Woohoo - made it back from Miami yesterday, and went to the Mambo Romero social at the Glas Kat, which was exceptionally good as always. Lot's of fun, and a good way to come back to SF.
Miami is a party town! I stayed in South Beach, at the super trendy Shore Club. What an amazing bar area (the Sky Bar) - and got to see a few celebrities too (Shaq). Do I recommend the hotel? No way. Great place, but just come to hang out! While I did get a great deal, it's nowhere near worth the prices. Check out Nobu sushi while you're there - it was amazing. The Delano, right down the street, also has a beautiful bar area. I also went to Mangos in South Beach for some "salsa". But, as already written about, there's NO salsa in South Beach. I finished the trip off at Bongos (Gloria Estafans club) - and it's very nice. Beautiful place - with indoor and outdoor dancing. Not much salsa - but still fun - and a HUGE crowd. Gets underway at around 11pm, but be early to avoid the long lines.
Sonora Carruseles is coming to town in July, quickly followed by Victor Manuelle! This will make for a very fun July. We'll have more information soon AND a ticket giveaway, for both shows! Also, expect another surprise in July from Cafe Cocomo (and that's all I'm saying about that - for now).
In addition, Agenda Lounge is celebrating it's seven year anniversary this week. Congratulations to this stellar Wednesday south bay hotspot. If you haven't been there yet, it's a great club - and kind of unique for the Bay Area.
The San Francisco Salsa Congress, now renamed the San Francisco Bay Area Salsa Congress, is moving too . . . Oakland?! I just read about this - while I'll reserve comment, I did notice that the online tickets are now for sale at, http://www.sfsalsacongress.com, and they are CHEAP! Yes, you hear me right - cheap. Three days of hotel, plus FULL Congress pass for $250. That's a great deal - and makes it affordable to stay at the hotel for all 3 nights. In addition, they have the worldwide Salsa Congresso favorites, El Canario and
DanceSF.com will have classes on seven days of the week, starting in July! Check out all the classes, and our new locations and teachers, at, http://www.DanceSF.com .
