AUTHOR: SalsaCrazy TITLE: This Week in Salsa - Jillians, Roccapulco, Cocomo and Yoshis! DATE: Tuesday, May 17, 2005 ----- BODY:
Ok, this Wednesday, Roccapulco is hosting the 5th Annual Salsa Dance Troupe Competition. It's bound to be a lot of fun, and there are a lot of troupes competing. Don't miss it! It's all this Wednesday, starting at 8:30 with a lesson by Ciro and Maryann.

This Friday, at Jillians in the Sony Metreon, they're celebrating their one year anniversary, with two live bands (Borinuen and Pepe)! Lots of dancing. This should be great - and an exciting event. In the South Bay, it's Hot Salsa Friday.

Saturday, Cafe Cocomo has Julio - that's the hot ticket, and definitely not something to miss. In the South Bay, don't forget about Club Mirage, newly opened, and a lot of fun (live band too).

Also, for those not attending the amazing West Coast Salsa Congress, never fear! It looks like Jimmy Bosch will be at Yoshis on Monday the 30th (crazy as that is). This should be fantastic, and the dance floor is open (with two shows, 8 and 10). Yes, the word is he will be here with the WHOLE band, so this is something that's pretty unique. To get to see this in such a fine, small venue - quite a treat. I wouldn't miss it.

Now, some other unique things in the city:

The Cigar Bar and Grill, at 850 Montgomery, has salsa on many nights of the week (Wed/Thursday/Frday - sometimes saturday). Check their schedule! Great drinks, great food, great music - but NO dance floor. You can still dance there though, and it's a very nice location (and no, you don't have to smoke). Usually it's only $5 or $8.

The Ramp has opened for Salsa on Saturdays, and El Rio is open for Salsa on Sundays (along with Jellys), so there are a lot of options for Weekend, mid-day, salsa! These locations are all a lot of fun!

There's a new musical/dance thing coming - called . . . The Mambo Kings. You'll be seeing posters all over town. Looks interesting eh?
